Marianne and Rene got married in Niagara on the Lake!

Marianne and Rene came to Niagara Falls from Quebec to have their destination wedding. They chose the Niagara on the Lake gazebo for the ceremony and had a gorgeous day! All of their kids were there which was nice and we had some fun with their photos. I loved the burgandy sash Marianne was wearing. The trend is color in the white dresses now. I really like the idea as it personalizes the style for each bride. After the ceremony and photos , they were wisked away in their limo for an intimate family dinner at a restaurant in Niagara Falls. All the best to you both! It was great meeting you!

Aiden and Owen came in with their matching blue shirts for portraits . They were so happy to be together and love to play. It was really cute to watch. I love to try and capture kids just the way they are. Their expressions, their reactions, and interaction with siblings. It is easy as a parent to take for granted all these little things untill they are older and then you look back and wish you could see ll of those expressions again! Kids grow too fast. I know this because my babies are16 and 20 years old! Aiden and Owen’s parents were so happy with this black and white image of their boys looking at eachother. I captured the connection between brothers! They ordered a 20 x 20 canvas wall hanging of this portrait for their family room. It will become a family heirloom and one day they kids may be fighting over who gets it!! Thank-you Sherri and Adam for coming in and I look forward to seeing you again soon!

Baby Julianna turns 6 months old!

Baby Julianna is one of our “Watch me grow” babies. She has come in now for the 3rd time for her portrait session. Newborn, 3 months and now 6 months old! It is so cool watching these children grow. Time just flies by in between the sessions! I am always amazed at the changes. This little cutie looks just like her dad! We used a pink backdrop for a girly girl portrait of Julianna with her pink outfit and pink hat! She fit right into the hat box and was quite content to sit there and smile! Next session she’ll be more mobile I am sure! Can’t wait!

Stephanie and Steve’s wedding!

Stephanie and Steve got married on a beautiful hot hot hot July day! The sun was out all day, and it was humid, but that is always better than rain! They got permission to do their photos at the Pt Abino lighthouse which is a national historic building. It was really cool for a backdrop and luckily the sun was behind us! THEN! …they had the coolest location for their reception. It was the Buffalo Canoe Club in Fort Erie. The reception hall is a building out on the water at the end of a pier. The view from up there is magnicificent and the atmosphere is very homey and relaxed. Stephanie chose navy blue for the girls dresses and everything matched perfectly with the nautical theme- even the cake was a lighthouse! All the beautiful boats in the harbour made a gorgeous backdrop there. The tradition for the Canoe Club is when the bride and groom arrive the antique canon is shot off to announce they are heading towards the pier and hall ! Man was that thing LOUD. I my ears were ringing for an hour afterwards!

We had so much fun and got some great shots. Thanks Steph and Steve again for having us be a part of this really cool day!

Lori and Mark’s destination Niagara wedding!

Lori and Mark live in Ohio and came to Niagara for their destination wedding. The wedding was held at Oakes Garden Theatre – a very popular spot for ceremonies as the falls is in the background. Very romantic and picturesque. Everyone wants the falls ! They have 6 children between them- all girls who were waiting at home for them. They had a wonderful day and time here in our beautiful city, combining their honeymoon getaway and ceremony all in one place! Thank-you Lori and Mark for having me be a part of your special day!

Tammy and Jason are engaged!

Tammy and Jason came in for their engagement session on a gorgeous early evening in July. They were dressed very casually and wanted very relaxed portraits to reflect who they are as a couple. We had a great session, the weather was overcast which is the best lighting conditions for outdoor portraiture. The portrait they eventually chose is a very intimate moment between them looking into eachother’s eyes and they ordered a 16 x 20 canvas for their home decor. This will always remind them of the very special time in their lives. I love that they are not looking at the camera, it is my favourate type of portrait. Thank-you again Jason and Tammy!

Meet Andrea- a very special girl!

Andrea is a very special girl indeed! She has an artificial heart that operates outside of her body. It is very impressive. I met Andrea through her mother Carol, who came in to see me for portraits this past winter. Carol gave me one of those squishy stress reliever hand held ball shaped things as a gift , and it was in the shape of a heart! She explained that her daughter has been waiting for a heart transplant for over 200 days. I was so touched by the story and amazed at the courage her daughter must have. I asked Carol if I could meet her daughter and I wanted to photograph her. They both came in last week and I was so happy to meet Andrea. She is so full of energy and enthusiasum, she has this amazing personality and vibrance about her. We had so much fun during the session. She carries her artificial heart around concealed in a handbag on her shoulder and wanted to show it in the photos. We put a cowboy hat on Andrea and she played around holding the batteries as if they were guns! Andrea laughs so easily and is so easy to be around. She has a blogspot and a site that she sells T shirts on. I hope everyone checks it out and sends a message of good luck to Andrea for me! thank-you Andrea for letting me capture your spirit!

April Mullen! Niagara’s newest movie producer and star!

Wow, what a treat to photograph April Mullen. She has so much personality, and enthusiasum! So much positive energy just a flowin during the photo shoot! I was lucky enough to be asked to help photograph her by my colleague and shooter Cheryl. Cheryl was commissioned to do the cover photo for Niagara Today’s magazine. April is Niagara’s newest rising star, who just finished directing a movie AND she acted in it also! The movie is called “Gravy Train” and is a fun take back to the movies of the 70′.s I haven’t had a chance to see it yet, but April has a copy waiting for me, I’ll be picking up soon and can’t wait to see it! How exciting to have met such a brilliant and exciting person . Thank-you Cheryl and thank-you April ! Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

Nicole’s Grade 8 graduation photos!

Nicole graduated from grade 8 this year and her mom wasn’t happy with the school “sit and click” assembly line graduation photos. It’s not easy doing a great photographic job under those circumstances I must admit. Too many students to photograph with too little time and also an intimidating situation for the subject. It’s hard to relax and also those images are always a little boring!! With a studio session, we have more time and can work together with the student to create something for them and something for mom’s and dad’s too! Nicole brought her prom dress in and we did some fun shots ! Her mom is ordering a storybook with all the images to commemorate this special time in Nicole’s life. The next 4 years of high school will go by in the blink of an eye! All the best to you Nicole! Thank-you for trusting me for your special images and I Hope you have a great summer too!

Sandy and Dawn’s wedding

Sandy and Dawn picked a fantastic day in May to get married. Of course who ever knows how the weather will be when you book your wedding a year in advance, but they were very lucky to have a wonderful day! We went to Oake Hall for photos after the ceremony. This building was Sir Harry Oake’s mansion while he lived in Niagara during the 1920’s. It has such history and character. The architecture lends itself so well for wedding photos, the background is so majestic and the grounds are beautifully manicured. Dawn and Sandy and their party were fun to work with and we had a great day! Thanks guys!
